Based on PhD research into social mobility, doors to graduate careers are closed based on academic elitism and this escalated in the pandemic. The 1 Hour Project was founded in 2020 by six friends to address this problem. All six have worked in this field and are committed to helping students and graduates from low income backgrounds

We want to level the playing field.

We have been overwhelmed by the response to our lofty ambitions and decided to make this project permanent and not just for the pandemic years. What next? Support as many students as we can to enable them to access graduate opportunities labour market.

The 1 Hour Project is a not for profit and funded by donations from varying sources. These include strategic partnerships, donations made by charitable trusts and organisations who want to support our mission – help 10,000 students by 2026.

Every donation makes a difference

Every £100 donation would enable us to deliver the programme to 2 students

£1,000

£1,000 would enable 22 students to be positively impacted

£5,000

£5,000 would enable 115 students to benefit from the programme

£10,000

£10,000 would enable us to reach 240 students

Strong partnerships with universities are crucial to our success. Helping support the 1 Hour Project helps close the employability skills gap and boost graduate outcomes. We work closely with Widening Participation teams, faculty, student societies and careers services.
